So today's NOTD is a little break from the Halloween theme (yesterday I wore ChG Fortune Teller, which I posted about last year here: ChG Fortune Teller, but I didn't bother to take new pics or post again on it). Today I'm using a brand called Fresh Paint, which I've only seen at 5 Below. They had a 3-for-$5 deal, so I picked up this one, Alchemy, as well as Nebula (wine sparkle) and Sugar Crush (flakies, a la SoTT, HT). Alchemy is a dusty lavender purple with insane gold shimmer. It's a foily finish, and was very easy to apply. I don't hold out high hope for bargain basement polishes, but I have to say I'm impressed - nice consistency, easy to control with the excellent brush, and was completely opaque and not streaky at 3 coats. You can see the detail of the shimmer more easily in the indirect shots, but the gold just comes alive in the sun. It's very pretty, and a nice quality for the money! Enjoy - >^..^<

ChG Cast a Spell
ChG Cast a Spell is from the 2012 China Glaze Halloween collection, the name of which slips my mind. This is a lovely dark green base with lime/yellow-green glitter / glass fleck type shimmer. As expected, it is lovely in the sun, although my camera wasn't able to capture just how shimmery and sparkly it really is. In low / indirect / indoor light it still has an interesting finish, as the lighter colored particles add a lot of depth and texture. Application was a dream, and it is highly pigmented so this was only 2 coats. If you can still find this one I'd definitely recommend picking it up! >^..^<

ChG Howl You Doin'
ChG Howl You Doin' is from the current 2013 Halloween collection. It is a dark purple jelly base with purple hexagonal glitter and shards of pinkish orange. Application was not so good - thick, streaky, and lumpy. I used Gelous and Poshe here, and it still isn't smooth, which is a shame because it is a very pretty polish. Then I applied Essie's matte topcoat, and that didn't turn out so well - it's an older bottle, and I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, but it wasn't very matte, and even had streaks of shine! But the intended end result was cool - I would have liked it more if the matte effect were more intense. I don't know if I'll be keeping this one, but it entertained me for a while. Enjoy - >^..^<

ChG Red-y & Willing
ChG Red-y & Willing is from the fall 2013 collection. It is a deep cranberry creme, a cool toned almost metallic red with darkened edges. Unfortunately, the sun didn't come out today, so the pics aren't very good, but you get the idea. Application was ok - nice consistency, fairly easy to control, but it was slightly streaky and I used 3 coats to get the opacity and depth of color I wanted. I'm a big fan of reds, so of course I like this one - hopefully you will too! Enjoy - >^..^<

Orly Buried Alive
Orly Buried Alive was released in the fall of 2012, and I wore it last September. You can see my previous post about it here: http://catdoccannon.blogspot.com/2012/09/orly-buried-alive.html. It is a beautiful midtone brown shimmer (with yellow-green undertones) with multi-colored sparkles in the sun that look gold in indirect light. Application was ok - nice consistency, fairly easy to control, but I did get some cuticle drag and streaking so it took 3 good coats for opacity and an even finish. My TC is a bit thick, so I got some shrinkage (sorry about that), but it looks ok in real life. Brown isn't my favorite color, but I like this one - it has enough shimmer to make it interesting, and I'm really liking the yellow-green undertone - very unique. Enjoy - >^..^<

Lippmann Dancing in the Sheets
Lippmann Dancing in the Sheets is from the HSN exclusive Footloose (the movie) collection. It is a dark indigo, and really reminds me of the color of blue ink in a ball point pen! It has a slight purple duochrome with turquoise shimmer in the bottle, but on the nail the colored shimmer and duochrome are not very visible. I think you can catch a little of the purple in one of the pics below, but don't count on seeing it in real life. Application good, as with most Lippmann's - nice consistency, easy to control (love the brush), with minimal streaking and great self-leveling. It isn't a terribly unique color, but it's right up mu alley, and I really like it! Enjoy - >^..^<

OPI German-icure by OPI
OPI German-icure by OPI is a beautiful deep red rust shimmer with slightly blackened edges from last fall's Germany collection. While it is largely red, it does have strong brown undertones, giving it an overall rusty feel. Application was good - it has a nice consistency, but it is a tad sheer so it took 3 coats to for complete opacity and evenness. It just glows in the sunlight - but in indirect light it is a bit flat, but still a beautiful color. This was very popular last fall, and for good reason. So if you don't have it, you should try it!
