Orly Star Spangled

Orly Star Spangled is a beautiful red with glitter that is part of the core collection.  It is a lot like China Glaze Ruby Pumps, so if you have one, you likely don't need both, unless you are a red glitter fan (like me).  Ruby Pumps has a cooler toned base than Star Spangled, but RP builds to a more neutral tone, as does this one.  It is a deeper toned base with glitter particles that are lighter color than the jelly base.  Application was very nice, as with most Orly's - nice formula, easy to control, built nicely in opacity, and had no drag or streaking.  I didn't get to take pictures until later in the day, so the light isn't the best quality, but I think you'll get the idea.  Enjoy -     >^..^<

Orly Buried Alive

Orly Buried Alive was released in the fall of 2012, and I wore it last September.  You can see my previous post about it here:  http://catdoccannon.blogspot.com/2012/09/orly-buried-alive.html.  It is a beautiful midtone brown shimmer (with yellow-green undertones) with multi-colored sparkles in the sun that look gold in indirect light.  Application was ok - nice consistency, fairly easy to control, but I did get some cuticle drag and streaking so it took 3 good coats for opacity and an even finish.  My TC is a bit thick, so I got some shrinkage (sorry about that), but it looks ok in real life.  Brown isn't my favorite color, but I like this one - it has enough shimmer to make it interesting, and I'm really liking the yellow-green undertone - very unique.  Enjoy -     >^..^<

Essie Vested Interest

Essie Vested Interest is from the new Fall 2013 collection.  It is a muted, dusty darker seafoam green creme, and is almost a dead-on dupe of School of Hard Rocks.  Boo, Essie!  But I like the color, so I guess I shouldn't complain.  Application was very nice - good consistency, easy to control, slightly streaky on the first coat, but was completely opaque and even at just 2 coats.  I wanted to try out my Orly Green Flakie Topcoat, so I put it over VE later the next day, and I can't say I'm over the moon about this look - it looks prettier in pics than it does in real life.  The light blue of the flakies plays nicely off the green of the polish, but it is a subtle look, and just doesn't stack up to other flakies used with a matte topcoat (ex: FP Motley).  I tried the Pink Flakie TC a while back and wasn't in love with that one either.  Anyway - VE is a lovely green, the kind of green I actually like and wear!  Enjoy -     >^..^<
